CHKPTFSTS (Check PTF Status) – Enhanced for performance

A while ago I presented the Check PTF Status (CHKPTFSTS) command which allows you to check the current PTF inventory.

The command reads through all installed products and, for each product runs through the list of PTFs and checks every PTF against each of the requested PTF statuses. You can specify one or more individual PTF statuses, or you can request all non-applied (the default).

Due to the significant number of PTFs checked the command takes some time to complete. So for the purpose of speeding up the process if you’re only interested in checking the PTF status for one or a limited number of products, I’ve enhanced the CHKPTFSTS command with an optional SELECT parameter, as shown below:

                       Check PTF Status (CHKPTFSTS)

 Type choices, press Enter.

 PTF status . . . . . . . . . . . PTFSTS *NONAPY
                           + for more values
 Option . . . . . . . . . . . . . OPTION *MSG

                            Additional Parameters

 Select product . . . . . . . . . SELECT *NO

Specifying SELECT(*YES) causes a panel to be displayed immediately prior to the PTF check process being run. From this panel you can select one or more products to be included in the PTF check.
